Supporting successful potty training with clear expectations, consistency, and loving guidance.
Helping Children Grow with Confidence
Potty training is an important milestone, and at Trinity Weekday Ministries we partner closely with families to support each child’s success. Our approach is consistent with our policies and prioritizes independence, readiness, and a safe, caring environment. Children in PreK-3 and older must be fully potty trained, and we work with parents to reinforce healthy habits, confidence, and classroom routines.
Our Potty Training Policy
At Trinity Weekday Ministries, our goal is to ensure that every child develops the skills and confidence needed for successful potty training. In accordance with our Parent Handbook, children enrolled in PreK-3 and above must be fully potty trained before attending class. This means that each child must arrive at school wearing underwear (not pull-ups), be able to express the need to use the restroom before an accident occurs, and demonstrate independence in basic bathroom routines.
Children must also be able to wipe themselves and manage restroom needs with minimal assistance. While teachers provide gentle reminders and scheduled opportunities throughout the day, children should be capable of using nearby restrooms at regular intervals. Because daily activities include motor class, playground time, chapel, music, and art, children must have enough control to remain comfortable and safe during transitions.
We recognize that occasional accidents may happen. However, after three accidents, a child will be sent home for two weeks to continue potty training at home, ensuring that readiness and consistency are maintained. Students may return after this period, but subsequent accidents will again require further training at home, following the same policy.
Our teachers support positive, encouraging potty-training habits. The learning environment is designed to reduce stress and build confidence, and we maintain respectful, developmentally appropriate expectations for all children. If a child struggles with restroom independence beyond this policy, we will work with parents to determine the best path forward.
Through partnership, patience, and clear communication, Trinity Weekday Ministries helps every child take this important developmental step with pride, success, and support.
